Interpretation
What types of interpretation does Arkan provide?
Three domains. Court and legal: Dubai Courts, DIFC Courts, ADGM Courts, arbitration tribunals, police investigations. Medical: hospitals, clinics, and medico-legal proceedings. Conference: simultaneous with booths and receivers, consecutive, and whispered. We match interpreters on domain expertise - a medical interpreter handles clinical settings, a legal interpreter handles courtrooms. Language fluency alone is not enough.
How many languages are available for interpretation?
75+ languages. Arabic-English is our most frequent court pair, but we regularly staff Arabic-French, Arabic-Urdu, Arabic-Russian, Arabic-Chinese, and dozens of other combinations. Every interpreter in our network is vetted on domain knowledge, not just language fluency.
How do I book an interpreter?
Contact us via WhatsApp at +971 50 709 1633 or email info@arkanlegaltranslation.ae with the date, time, location, subject matter, and language pair. We confirm interpreter availability and provide a quote.
What interpretation equipment does Arkan provide?
Bosch Integrus digital infrared systems for interference-free audio, ISO 4043 compliant soundproof booths, wireless receivers scaling from 50 to 5,000+ audience members, and portable tour guide systems for smaller groups. Every equipment rental includes delivery, setup, an on-site technician during the event, and teardown after.
What is the difference between simultaneous and consecutive interpretation?
Simultaneous: the interpreter renders speech in real time from inside a soundproof booth while the audience listens through wireless receivers. Used for conferences, large hearings, and multi-language events. Consecutive: the speaker pauses after each statement, and the interpreter delivers the translation from notes. Used in Dubai Courts, DIFC depositions, police statements, and medical consultations. The choice depends on setting and audience size, not quality.
Translation
What is MOJ-certified translation?
An MOJ-certified translation carries the personal stamp and signature of a translator licensed by the UAE Ministry of Justice for that specific language pair. Not a company stamp - an individual license holder who is accountable for the accuracy of every word. Arkan's translator Khaled Mohamed Abdeltawab Aladl holds MOJ License #701 for Arabic ↔ English. Verify by calling 800 333333. Arkan operates under DUL #CJ9803 - verify at Dubai Economy record.
What languages does Arkan translate?
Tier 1: Arabic ↔ English, MOJ-certified directly under Khaled Mohamed Abdeltawab Aladl's License #701 - this is our in-house language pair. Tier 2: Other pairs where the UAE has a registered MOJ translator (French, German, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, and more) - MOJ-certified via contracted licensed translators. Tier 3: Pairs with no MOJ translator registered in the UAE (e.g., Tagalog ↔ Arabic, Greek ↔ Arabic) - issued under Arkan company certification. Most UAE authorities accept Tier 3 because no MOJ option exists for the pair.
What is the difference between certified, legal, sworn, and company-stamped translation?
In the UAE, "certified" and "legal" translation mean the same thing: a translation stamped and signed by an MOJ-licensed translator. "Sworn" is the term used in European jurisdictions - same concept, different name. "Company-stamped" is different. It carries the company seal but not an individual MOJ translator stamp. Arkan uses company certification only for Tier 3 language pairs where no MOJ-licensed translator exists in the UAE.
How long does certified translation take?
A single-page certificate (birth, marriage, degree) is usually same-day. Multi-page contracts, court submissions, or corporate filings take 2-3 working days depending on complexity and the language pair. Express service is available when deadlines are tight. Send your document and we will give you an accurate timeline - not a range.
Will my translated document be accepted by courts and government authorities?
That depends on which authority is receiving it - and that is exactly what our operations team checks before work begins. Dubai Courts, GDRFA, MOFA, DIFC, and different embassies each have their own formatting and certification requirements. Tell us the destination, and we confirm the correct certification tier and format before starting.
Attestation
What is attestation and when do I need it?
Attestation adds government stamps (MOFA, embassy, notary) that prove a document is authentic for use outside the UAE. You need it when a foreign government, employer, or university requires proof that your UAE-issued or UAE-legalised document is genuine. The chain of stamps varies by destination country - a degree going to Saudi Arabia follows a different attestation path than one going to the UK.
What steps does Arkan handle vs what I do myself?
Done-for-you: MOFA attestation, embassy legalisation, and notarisation - any step where an authorised representative can act on your behalf. Guide-only (requires you personally): UAE Pass verification, presenting original documents in person, personal university verification, and personal embassy appointments. For guide-only steps, we prepare all supporting documents and tell you exactly what to bring and where to go. You attend those yourself.
Does the UAE use apostille or the traditional attestation chain?
The UAE joined the Hague Apostille Convention in 2024. For documents going to or from Hague member countries, a single apostille stamp replaces the old multi-step embassy chain. For non-Hague countries, the traditional MOFA → embassy attestation chain still applies.
Arkan Go
What is Arkan Go?
Arkan Go is how we handle routine certified documents at speed. Same MOJ-certified translation quality, but with a dedicated admin team managing all client communication, queries, and logistics. The licensed translator works on nothing but the translation. Birth certificates, degree certificates, police clearances, employment contracts - documents that need the stamp but not the complexity of a court filing.
Which documents qualify for Arkan Go?
Standard certified translation documents: birth certificates, marriage certificates, degree certificates, police clearances, employment contracts, corporate filings, and legal correspondence. Complex litigation bundles, technical manuals, and documents requiring specialist subject-matter review go through the standard Arkan workflow instead.
How much does Arkan Go cost?
Arkan Go does not publish static prices. Send your document via WhatsApp and we will provide a clear, itemised quote before any work begins.
Rejections and Issues
Why was my translation rejected by an authority?
We see the same patterns repeatedly. GDRFA rejects translations missing the notary stamp they require. Dubai Courts returns documents formatted for a different jurisdiction. MOFA refuses to attest a translation that was not MOJ-certified in the first place. Sometimes the source document itself has expired. Send us the rejection notice and the original document - we will tell you exactly what went wrong and what the fix is.
Can Arkan fix a translation done by another translator?
Yes. We see this regularly - a client brings a translation from another office that was rejected or contains errors. We review it, identify the compliance gaps or mistranslations, and issue a corrected version under Arkan's certification. The new translation carries our MOJ stamp (for Arabic ↔ English under License #701) or the appropriate certification for the language pair.
What if the authority requests changes after submission?
Contact us with the authority's feedback. We amend the translation to meet their specific requirements and re-issue the certified copy. Corrections to genuine Arkan translation errors within 7 days of delivery are at no additional charge.
Pricing and Timing
How much does certified translation cost in Dubai?
It depends on the document. A single-page birth certificate costs less than a 40-page commercial contract. Pricing factors: document type, page count, language pair (Tier 1/2/3), and what the receiving authority requires. Send your document and we quote the exact amount - no hidden fees, no surprise charges after delivery.
Is there a surcharge for urgent or same-day translation?
Yes. Urgent and same-day requests carry a surcharge that varies by document complexity and language pair. The surcharge is quoted upfront before work begins.
What payment methods does Arkan accept?
Bank transfer, cash, and card payment. Payment terms are confirmed with your quote.
What factors affect the price of a translation?
Five things drive the price: document type and complexity, number of pages, language pair (Tier 1 in-house vs Tier 2 contracted vs Tier 3 company-certified), the receiving authority's formatting requirements, and how fast you need it. A standard certificate is straightforward. A 50-page litigation bundle with legal pleadings and technical terminology takes more time and expertise.
